Hi,

My name is Robin Bailey and I live in Portland, Oregon. I teach at Tualatin High school which is located in a suburb of the same name, south of Portland. I teach Spanish II-IB Spanish IV to grades 9-12. This is my 13th year teaching and I have been at Tualatin the entire time and loving every minute of it. My District and school are very committed to literacy. For the past four years one of my school's three school-wide goals has been literacy. We have a full-time literacy specialist who works with teachers and students. I have taken SIOP training and I am currently working with the literacy specialist to more actively and overtly incorporate literacy strategies into my reading curriculum. On a personal note, I enjoy reading, gardening, cooking with my husband and eating at many of the fantastic restaurants in Portland. I am looking forward to this class. Robin Bailey

Hi and welcome to our course Robin. How awesome to hear that everyone in your building are working around the common goal of increasing literacy...especially in a high school...that's very rare. I think that you will benefit from increasing your knowledge of how to use Marzano's instructional strategies in your Spanish courses. We look forward to working together throughout the semester.
