Final Course Reflections

Hi all and thanks for participating in our course. There are only 10 assignments, but we would appreciate any feedback you might be able to give us. (ie....Do you think the blog format works for this course?...)

Thanks again for participating! Jackie and Mary

I really enjoyed the class and liked the blog format. I think it would have been interesting had the assignment each week included writing a post, as well as responding to at least one person's post. I think that would have encouraged more dialogue and been very interesting.

Thank you so much for all of your work in creating this class. I know that I have changed some of my daily routines as a result of this class and really enjoyed hearing other peoples' ideas.

Suzie Kabeiseman - Final Course Reflection.

The book was filled with good reminders and a lot of research that will help guide my teaching in the future.

This format was new for me which I appreciate. I really enjoyed reading what other teachers were thinking and working on, but I too would like more dialogue.

Thanks for putting this together. Hopefully, it will have an impact on the students that I teach. Suzie

Yes, I have to agree with what Sacha and Suzie said about the dialogue part. Due to the fact that I have a very busy life, as I'm sure everyone else does too, I didn't read all of what other people posted. I did read a lot, but found myself going straight to entering my answers a few times. I also agree with what Suzie said about the reminders. As a teacher who's been doing this for a little while, not the 8 years is all that much really, I've done just about everything this book mentions in some format or another. Most good teachers are constantly looking for new ways to get their students to interact with the course matter. There were a lot of good reminders though and some new techniques, or new twists on old ones, which I will try out. Thanks for teaching the class and I appreciate your responses to our entries!

Thanks for having me read this book. I'm going to have to say a big repeat from what the other women said but I believe it's valid.
I loved this book on so many levels. For me it was a reminder of all the things we already do or have done in the past and have maybe slacked a wee bit on. I don't think this is a bad thing though. It's good to be reminded. I think a new teacher would REALLY benefit from this course. For me I benefited from seeing how these strategies I've always done can be tweaked and carried over to another area of my instruction. I enjoyed that piece.
I find I have the same opinion as the others on the dialogue piece. I'm not sure how to change that to get more conversation between teachers. I would've loved to be in a classroom with teachers to discuss some of my thoughts. I think the general reason we chose this venue for learning is due to the flexibility.
I found it difficult to read others ideas if they wrote a week or two after I already posted or the other way around. You can't really require that people post within a two day frame can you? The other option would be to buddy up with another teacher and have a phone chat or email chat with that partner directly and then share the "pairs" ideas on the blog. I don't know, I'm just blabbing. Okay, well thanks so much and good luck with future classes.

Thanks so much for your responses on how to make the blog more successful. Unfortunately, we can't control when people have to have their assignments in by, TINT feels strongly that flexibility is the reason people sign up for distance courses...

I really like your ideas on having people respond to at least one person's post each week...we'll definitely add that to next semester! Thanks so much for your participation!!!!

This was my first "blogging" class. I really enjoyed it. I liked reading everyone's ideas, because it made the chapter's come alive. Compared to online courses where you just email in your own papers.

The toughest piece about responding to one another's ideas was the timeline. since we weren't all on the same chapter at the same time it made it difficult to comment frequently.

Thanks for your time in preparing this course. I will be referring to this book when I return to teaching in a year or two. It will be out on my shelf.

Have a wonderful Spring.
